Hi Chris,

Availability would be one factor; I know it was for Stephen. Vanagons are VERY few and far between at wreckers and yard sales around the rust belt.

Another advantage would be the improved recline angle; I've found the vanagon seats don't recline far enough for passengers to doze comfortably on long road trips. That last detail was an unwelcome discovery I made a few years ago when I upgraded my westfakia from late-bay vinyl buckets to late-vanagon captains chairs.
