Go for it. The technical side is really not that difficult. It's just real grunt work. Like Neil said have something to support the weight of that thing that also allows you to drop it down slow with some semblance of control. Thats what I think is the hardest part of the job. I did my first tranny swap with zero idea of what I was doing but there is so much info available you can surely do it.

Besides it will save you enough money so you can buy that fancy full on scissor style tranny jack the next time you need to work on it. Merv
