I guess I should mention that I am putting these tires on a 2 Wheel Drive
vehicle, not a syncro. I have no intention of regearing my transmission. To
my knowledge, anything taller than a 215/60/16" is going to be taller than
stock. I see people putting 215/85 tires on their rigs, this is not
something I'm interested in. I generally do not go off roading, although I
do drive on large gravel, sand/silt, but it's generally just to get to a
choice camping site! I'm primarily interested in a highway tire that is
going to be quiet, but can handle the occasional off road mud, with a stiff
enough sidewall to be resistant to heavy winds without feeling every bump in
the road. A lot to ask perhaps? And what's the deal with load rating? Do I
need a class C tire? Why does Go Westy recommend the Michelin Hydroedge if
it's not the proper load rating? I realize Go Westy is not god, but had a
hard time believing they would recommend a tire that is an incorrect load
rating for the vehicle--what's up here? Is there a decent tire that's about
$80? Is that asking too much?
