Subject: Tires just a footnote
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1
I have just read court summary of legal actions against a major tire
company
Legal action was taken when tires blew on quite well loaded Vanagon
in Florida.
The gentlemans wife became a quad in the accident.
It is on the net for all to read.
The tires in question were a 215/70 snow and mud.
His wife became a quad in this accident.
These tire blew under stress on a long trip.
The bus was well loaded and she was changing lanes at the time.
He was aware that this tire did not have reinforced sidewall but
felt they would work.
He also explained that he thought he was getting a bigger, stronger tire
that would work on the back of the car.
He was aware the tires did not have the proper specifications
of owner's manual but thought bigger equaled stronger.
He was wrong.
The jury award money to him but did point out that he was negligent
in not picking proper tires as RECOMMENDED by owners manual.
Remember that when someone tells you that bigger compensates for
the tire specs recommended by manufacturer.
