David, Just to add a bit of info, my dad has been looking to get a new Jetta TDI Wagon, and just sat down with a dealer to have a look at their computer to see what inventory is available. They searched within 1000 miles of their location (upstate NY), and found very few available...like 4 or 5 total! My dad had ordered one and put down a deposit at another dealer back in August '08, and that order has not even been built yet. So my point is that these TDI wagons are in high demand in the states. Sounds like there is probably more inventory up in Canada, but I'm not sure. His '06 Jetta TDI sedan has about 70k miles on it, and they've needed to do nothing but regular maintenance on it. Good luck, either throw the Touraeg on Ebay for maximum profit, or take the dealer's trade and enjoy your (wife's) new car. ------------------------------- >Date: Fri, 20 Mar 2009 09:15:06 -0700 >From: David Marshall <mailinglist@FASTFORWARD.CA> >Subject: Re: Buying a new VW - anyone have salesperson advice? > >I hear you on the used car bit.=A0 We are also looking at a few user >2005 Passat TDIs - but these all have between 80000 and 120000km - so no >warranty left and asking price is around 22K - I dunno, 10Kish more for a >new car with warranty is quite cool.=A0 Also, wife wants a "turn >the key and go" vehicle - if she wants a works most of the time >vehicle then she'll drive the Westy!=A0 :-) > >David >Marshall |
