great idea ........go to CaDMV.gov or whatever their DMV's site is .
I think you'll find the law is something like 'if you live or work in Ca.
you must register your car in california within 30 days.'.
people get away with not doing that of course..........and say there are
'visiting' if neccessary.
It's been a real issue in some places in Ca.........like Lake Tahoe - living
there, but keeping a car registered in Nevada for smog reasons.
Heard about one Judge in that area that loved giving out 600 dollar fines
for that.
Even parked in your yard off the street ............I've heard, they can be
nasty about it.
Mostly though ...........no problemo, pretty much.
In a small town though ............cops might notice the same out of state
car being around for months.
outside of the smog districts of Ca............out in the boonies and small
towns, you only get cars smogged when you sell them, not every 2 years like
in most of the state. Their fees are still very high, and they're not that
nice at the DMV sometimes. Always use the CSAA auto club dmv office - no
crowds, and you're not dealing with a DMV employee.
