When CIP1 first started offering the Nankangs I did some research on them, wondering if they knew something I didn't. If these were a worthy alternative to the Hankooks and Vredesteins, I would have seen no reason not to add them to my roster. Alas I found surprisingly little about the manufacturer, let alone the particular tire. The company does not even have a U.S. presence or website (their offices/factories are in China and Taiwan) and they are not an OEM supplier to any auto manufacturer. About the only info I could find related to a bankruptcy filing (which was quite some time earlier, and, I presume, long since resolved). By comparison, Hankook is an OEM supplier to most of the major auto manufacturers (including Volkswagen), has a 20 year track record in the U.S. market (65 years overall), and is minority owned by Michelin. I decided not to consider Nankang until they had established some sort of track record.
