Subject: Removing glass from window frame
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

Hi folks:

I picked up a replacement window for the sliding door of my 89 westy, and the inner membrane between the glass has a slight haze to it. (at least I think it's the membrane). No amount of cleaning makes it better. I was wondering what the possibility is of changing out the glass, as the frame and seal are in very good condition. Does the whole window have to come out of the van? What is the procedure for getting the glass out of the metal frame? Is this more trouble than it's worth, should I just buy another window? I have the black frame, so they're kind of hard to come by, at least at a reasonable price. Does anyone know what causes this "haze" in the glass? Is there any way to bring it back to life? I assume it's the plastic safety membrane that prevents glass from going in every which direction in the event of breakage, but have never seen one go translucent before.

Troy
