No doubt it was the moths, chewing their way in to get to the light. Cunning devils. :-)

Heat burden is always the *last* thing that manufacturers address. Makes the thermal engineers depressed sometimes, but of course they get the big consulting fees to fix it after the thing is built.

And that crystal lens for the Westy halogen interior light isn't immune to a spot of deformation, either -- and it certainly never got left on all night. Not to mention the shocking price that GE wants for the specified lamp. We quit using it after we got an 11-watt CF PAR-type narrow flood lamp to run with an inverter. With a clip-on gooseneck fixture it hung in the rafters to light the whole cabin, or clip to the shelf for cooking/reading/whatever. Half again the amount of much more pleasing light for half the drain. Only disadvantage was the cord.
