Craig,

Summertime in the desert I travel with at least two quarts of water and drink from them regularly. The dry intense heat will dehydrate you in a short period of time. I also have a portable misting bottle. That will cool you down greatly. The other must have item to keep in your ride, is the best cooler you can afford for your cold and frozen purchases. I do it both ways, sometimes with a/c and other times without. At about 110, it begins to get uncomfortable. I recall on day in Las Vegas when it hit 130 plus air temp above the pavement. My windshield cracked, and that was with my windows down. Be sure your battery and engine cooling system is 100 percent. The high heat will kill a weak battery the same as a sub-zero night.
