I had a front hose insert pop out on the road a few months ago on my new-to-me GL. I ran a stainless tek-screw into the pipe in a gas station parking lot, but just as something to keep the hose from slipping off, as I had an appointment to make. I've been meaning to pull the pipe and put the insert back in and do it right, but haven't had time. It's held solid for a couple thousand miles so far.... but I don't think I'd trust it for a long trip until I get the steel insert put back in.

I have the GoWesty brass insert kit in my other van. It's held the inserts fast for 20K miles so far. It appears to be a good solution. I will probably try riveting the steel insert with stainless rivets on my other van. I reckon one solution will work as good as the other...
