Ric- the pump shoould be shut off when the gauge reads 2.8 gallons. That's when gas exits the 80% valve. The tank holds more than 3 gallons,(the capacity is stamped on the tank) but should only be filled to 2.8 -2.9 gallons. Someone filled mine to 3.3 once and there was no problem, Overfilling presents a risk of liquid, not vapor, propane entering your gas appliance. The 20% space above the liquid propane is needed for the liquid to change to vapor before exiting the tank. Hi,

Quick question. What is the capacity of the propane tank on a Vanagon Westy?

Thanks.

Ric
