Definitely not the same for all years. You need a sliding door from 1980 to 84. ( in 85 and later they changed and improved the sliding door set up, including the track in the body, so it's not easy to install an 85 and later sliding door on an earlier vanagon )

It would be expensive to ship you one here from Southern Oregon, but I have one or two decent 84 or earlier vanagon sliding door. and all kinds of things you might need, body wise, or parts wise, for vanagons. Scott www.turbovans.com

I am in the process of rejuvenating my new 1981 Westie's body, and I am in need of a slider door body for a 1980-1991 body style (I believe this is the same build for these years). I don't necessarily need the guts, just mainly the steel, and hopefully no major rust holes.

If anyone knows of one around, please let me know!
