Michael,

Remove the return line at the reservoir and put in a bucket... keep the cap off the reservoir and keep adding ATF fluid as someone (with the motor running) turns the wheel from left to right. This will cause the fluid to cycle through and dump the old stuff into the bucket. Keep in mind, that since this is a recirculation system, the fluid is constantly flushed through, so you can also extract as much as you can from the reservoir and replace with fresh from time to time (also replace the filter).

If you haven't replaced your PS lines to the rack yet, and you live in a northern area, it is about time to do that! My PS line went on my 84 about 2 years ago.

Due to low level, not too low, before I add more ATF I was thinking of flushing system since hasn't been done since PO had it. Bentley doesn't show complete precess unless i am missing it. I did not want to top off w/o knowing what was already in there. I have air if needed. Thanks. Michael in San Antonio 91GL AT 'Gringo' 73 Beetle
