all right ! :-)

and as the other guy correctly pointed out, it's Dexron ATF. which is by far the most common type.

sure feels good flushin' out old, and puttin' in new ! ----- Original Message ----- From: Michael Sullivan To: Scott Daniel - Turbovans ; vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com Sent: Thursday, March 26, 2009 4:14 PM Subject: Re: Flush PS?

Undo the low pressure return hose. They can be hyper stuck on the plastic reservoir , so .......................... on the right side of the engine compartment, that's the hose that's held on to the pipe that's coming from the front of the van, with a hose clamp. ( the threaded connector is the high pressure side, don't mess with that part )

Remove that hose from that pipe, and plug the end, then put another hose on the return pipe temporarily................and run the engine. All the old fluid will be gushing out of your 'new' return hose, into your drain pan or bucket. And it really gushes out of there too. Keep adding fresh ATF to the reservoir while running the engine and flushing out the old, until only fresher looking fluid is coming out. at idle speed is fine. Scott www.turbovans.com

Due to low level, not too low, before I add more ATF I was thinking of flushing system since hasn't been done since PO had it. Bentley doesn't show complete precess unless i am missing it. I did not want to top off w/o knowing what was already in there. I have air if needed. Thanks. Michael in San Antonio 91GL AT 'Gringo' 73 Beetle
