Hi Patti,
I figured out how to search for my posting about a shop in Oceanside that
tinted Mellow Yellow's windows for $260. Here's the archived bits:
I just had Mellow Yellow's windows tinted. The passenger and driver's
windows and wind wings were done in 35% (transmits 35% of the light)
neutral gray. Everything aft was done in 20% platinum metal (transmits
20% of the light, looks reflective from the outside. Good for primping).
Cost $260 at Todd's Tint Shop in Oceanside California. They do tinting
for the local Lexus dealer. He quoted it over the phone, called me a
couple hours after I had dropped it off and said that it would take a
lot longer than expected and that I got a great deal. I reckon I did --
they did a great job, even behind the closet, and it looks good.
He called me back a couple hours ago. Said someone had dropped off
another Vanagon -- also an 84 -- and wanted to know how I got the slider
windows out. I told him. He said that he might have lost money tinting
my van, but he felt that being able to pick my brain made it worth it to
him. I feel pretty ignorant about Vanagon stuff here on the list, but I
reckon I'm a frickin' walking encyclopedia of Vanagon knowhow to the
average bear.
