Or as the old saying goeth: "A poor workman blames his tools."

I had a revelation about welding/cutting when I watched an...acquaintance, a real weldor, cut two circles in half-inch plate (for rear spring perches for Dutiful Passage), using my torch. A real pleasure to watch him do it free-hand. His version of "steady motion" and mine were about 25 arm-twitches different, and the results were gorgeous. When I get back to welding again it will be with that in mind. That and how to get, and gauge, good penetration. It's way too easy with MIG to make nice-looking welds that really just sit on top of the substrate.
