I too wondered about that before repairing.

The wear was all in the bottom of hole. The new bushing fit tight to upper 2/3 - 3/4 of hole and there was no visible wear there, so I cut a hole in plate to OD of *new* bushing and positioned the plate to the known good upper part of hole. If that makes sense.

I'll throw up some notes on my web page, but hope that helps. If worn hole is really messed up, maybe one could measure the hole position on other side of vehicle and transfer the measurements? I would think they are the same relative position, though I'm not certain.
