Hmmm, no way in hell that I would do it these days, but in my murky past, I did all sorts of crazy stuff like that. I used to live in Texas and work in Louisiana. Drove back and forth between WA and there in an assortment of vehicles, including a '78 BMW R80/7, '81 Scirocco S, '84 BMW 318i and '91 Chevy S10...none of which had working AC. I was in my late twenties at the time, so reason and logic weren't necessarily part of the equation. Now that I'm in my mid forties, I value my personal comfort far too much to put up with that kind of nonsense...then again, there's no way I'd bother driving a Vanagon that far, for the same reason.
