He has an 86+. The brake pads on those don't use those little pins. The guide pin he is talking about is the major pin the caliper slides on to center itself as the pads wear. Modern calipers use this type of system, with a carrier that bolts to the spindle/upright and the caliper attaches to these pins. There is only one piston that pushes against one pad. The pad on the other side is in a fixed position. The caliper itself has to slide on the guide pins to center itself.
