Doug, That might be a worthy project to attempt. I've only glued replacement mirrors over broken mirrors. I suppose you could glue the mounting ring to a new mirror the same way VW did. Any idea what is involved in moving the heating element as well? The manual mirror is smaller so it should work in the powermirror housing. The only such repairs/mods I've seen has been gluing the manual mirror glass over the cracked powermirror glass.
