no need for the roof metal.  why give yourself a hernia and a headache?
just simply cut a hole in your vanagon's roof and bolt everything down.  ive
done it this way many times before and you get a functioning poptop.  the only
thing you have to make custom is the upper bunk platform.
 Been there done that, its late and i dont feel like telling the story again
as its been told many times before on this list and is in the archives..
search "poptop transplant".
