well you coulda embaellished the story by having it be a killer TDI engine
with bigger injector nozzles, water-cooled intercooler, special turbo, etc.
PLUS, of course, a Locking Front Differential and Decoupler.
It is April 1st after all.
but really, there's a guy I'm in contact with once in a while these days, in
a Western state, who did stumble onto the 'they didn't really know what
they had' estate sale Syncro Westy at a used car lot. If he's being
truthful, he got it for some very reasonble price, so much so, that the day
after he bought it the car lot ccalled back and offered to buy it back from
him at something like $ 7K more than he paid for it , and that is not an
April Fools Day story either.
It does happen once in a great while for sure.
