So if you haven’t heard of any miracles happening lately read this and you will. So I stopped by my uncles house today and gave him the grand tour of my 84 westy, I even pop-ed the top to show him the upper bunk. When I was done I pulled the top down rolled in the fabric and gave it the one over, pulling down tight tell I could see and hear the clicking of the top latch latching. I then drove away. Me and my son were on our way to the mountains to do some 4-Wheeling. We must of driven 35 to 45 miles to get to the spot. Then we did a couple hours of some serious 4-Wheeling, Well as serious as you can get in a 2WD Vanagon (I will own a syncro one-day). Anyway we had a blast, did not get stuck and did not break down. We were however covered in mud. On our way back down the mountain (another 45 miles later) we stopped at a car wash, The type that has the high-pressure wand with trigger. So away I wash off the mud and grime, starting from the back and working my way towards the front. LOW AND BEHOLD the top was up about 3 inches. It was obviously not latched!!! And it did not blow up and rip off in the 90 plus miles I drove. Don’t worry I said my many thanks to the big guy in the sky. WOW! All miracles both BIG and small do happen…….
