Subject: Lube Points on New Front Brakes?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

Hi all.

Installed new calipers, rotors, pads. Caliper hardware kits c/w a little tube of grease which I assumed was only for the back of the pads, but began to think it may be for lubing certain points on front caliper/pads/hardware. So on with the search.

Found this in the archives:

Just so I'm clear on this....

Can anyone confirm the following?

When installing new pads, appropriate lube should be applied to:

edges of pads (metal portion I assume) where they move along caliper body at holes on pads where pins go through at back of pads

Any other points to lube?

I ask as it seems almost counter intuitive to do the above (risk of contaminating pad face and/or rotor). But since lube should be a "non migrating" type, risk should be nil. Still......

Thanks,

Neil.
