Subject: Linkage/shifter noise - ATL to Tampa
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

Hello all,

'82 westy, manual trans

Daisy developed a noise after about an hour or so in 4th gear at 60-65 mph. The noise is coming from somewhere around shift linkage (shifter to trans - not sure - but sounded like back further from the shifter itself). For a short amount of time I can move the shift lever around and the noise will go away, then after a while the noise will reappear and won't go away by moving the shifter. Changing speeds will also eliminate the noise. The noise sounds like when your shift knob is loose, but a bit lower pitched... kind of a rattle.

Besides that, Daisy made it in record time - 7.5 hours from ATL to Gainesville and 3.5 hrs. from Gainesville to St. Pete. :)

Thanks in advance for any recommendations or past experience.

Best regards,

Frank '82 Westy - Daisy
