Got mine from a local FLAPS. I don't remember how it all "tumbled" down, but I ended up with 2 different struts. Which makes sense in hindsight. The hatch employs 1 "weak" and 1 "strong" strut. This combination provides a suitable balance for an unloaded rear hatch. (i.e. no bikes hanging off hatch) The hatch lifts with ease, stays put, and closes with ease but doesn't slam shut. Mine still work fine (unless really cold out in which case it sags a little but stays open) 3+ years later. Neil.
