John are you sure you put the plate back on the side of the transmission
that supports the shifter linkage on the correct side of the mount? It
can go on both ways (in front of or behind the mount) but only one way
is the right way. The other will throw your linkage out of adjustment.
Check the Bentley manual as it has a picture that I always reference to
be sure that I do it the correct way. That is probably what is up.
