I have had the opposite experience. At $275 for a rebuilt, they have not lasted and some have made noise immediately. I've had similar experience starter rebuilds as well. I source good used PS pumps for around $100 shipped. I have a few, if it doesn't work for you I'll replace it. dylan ________________________________ From: John Rodgers <inua@CHARTER.NET> To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Sent: Thursday, April 9, 2009 9:46:01 AM Subject: Re: Looking for a good used Powersteering Pump for my 88 Wolfsburg Robert, Why match a used pump with a new (rebuilt) engine? I had my PS pump go out, and have been the rounds with four used pumps since. All either didn't work or crapped out just shortly after installation. I'm done with used pumps. Next pump is a remanufactured one from one of our list vendors. In my experience, I don't recommend used PS Pumps. They are a PITA.
