As far as I can tell from the pictures..... the front brake system Raimund is building is exactly what I have on one of my Syncros in testing right now. 312mm rotors Girling 60 calipers and hangers mounted with an adapter, not machined hanger. inner hub spacer, not pictured. http://syncrospecialist.com/G60.aspx This is a great setup so far. I have only mounted double vented rotors thus far, they are much more $ than standard. One thing to watch out for with this setup is due to the inner spacer, if you have used an outer spacer to attach aftermarket rims, this will change your offset a bit. Will not work with ET23 rims, it pushes them further outward, not by much, but enough with huge tires to impact the fender lip with stock suspension.

The rear setup will be mounted soon. It will have a mechanical hand brake.

After I have returned from Syncro De Mayo, I will offer the details on the front upgrade. I am not going to sell it as a bolt on DIY kit. I will have the needed parts made by a Gent on the Samba and offer instructions with them. The needed calipers, rotors and hardware are very easily sourced.

I will offer the complete setup mounted to your van at my personal shop in NY. I will only do a complete brake upgrade. I will have three versions. 1. front brake upgrade. 2. front and rear upgrade. 3. front and rear with complete brand new brake lines and master cylinder. Option three will have one other mod. available as well, I will add a Tilton brake bias to the system in the drivers area near the emergency brake.

Again, Syncro only first. 2wd will need a SA front hub and I have not been able to source them in quantity yet.

Prices will be available soon.

John,

Your objection is duly noted. However, as the 'P' word as you call is used by the mainstream media and in the pulpits of many churches and temples in this Country, I do not have issue with it's use on the List.

In the future, please direct such objections via pmail to one of the moderators so as not to elicit any further unnecessary off topic discussions.

Getting back to Raimund's brakes, it might just be that he is using the Audi G60 brakes popularized by David Marshal via his webpage on the subject. The rear disc is not that far from a system I put together in 1999. The main difference is Raimund is doing all the hard work of machining and sourcing parts.

Regards,

BenT
