A door handle, latch, full-on-release, thing.

Good think I didn't try to use it as, I dunno, an oil cap?  ;)

And as to what it came off of, I don't where it came from or how it
ended up in one of my parts boxes. (maybe some lost socks from behind
the drier banded together and put it there) My old VW Diesel Schmabbit
was gone long ago, so likely not from that. I did grab a bunch of
parts (for FREE!) off an '80 about 1.5 years ago. But I really don't
recall removing that part.
