That's about what I was wondering- I recently repainted my tank (gloss white), and replaced the fill valve. I was worried that the attendant would see the shiny new valve, look closer, and demand to see re- certification papers or some such. Turns out the propane guy couldn't care less and was much more worried about getting it over with than anything else. But now I'm curious about whatever regs exist.
