Ziebart and similar services are very popular where I come from - Western NY State.

They spray more than just an oil - they spray on an undercoating that is designed to seal the steel. The stuff is thick enough that it actually provide a sound deadener.

From my experience, the service provides very limited value & only extends the life a car a few years.

Just wondering if anyone on the list has ever used this type of service before?

General link to prevention: http://www.ziebart.com/protection.php

Basically they spray a certain type of oil within all the crevices of the vehicle to keep it oiled preventing oxidation to the metal.

The also offer a undercoating like that of a truck bed lining to be sprayed underneath. The bottom of my van's factory lining is flaking off in chunks and I think its time for a replacement to protect the metal.

What are your thoughts?

Anyone ever use this type of service? If so what was the costs?

here is some if the info from their site: Penetr-Oil Dripless Oiling Process - Available in Canada Only ( I have to confirm this!*)

Penetr-Oil is a result of 35 years experience in rust protection. What makes the Penetr-Oil process the best in the business?

Offers you the flexibility of annual protection on a pay-as-you-go basis. Drip-less, clear process is cleaner and less harmful to the environment. As always, Satisfaction is Guaranteed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------

Rust Prevention System: Rust preventive coating for new cars-trucks. Special treatment for used vehicles too. Underbody sealants resist abrasion & rust. Upperbody sealants penetrate seams and joints, prevent sheet metal rusting. Annual maintenance & respray program. Limited national full-repair warranty. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------

Underbody Sound Deadening and Underbelly coating:

Thick coating cuts noise, protects metal. Four times thicker than Undercoating. Absorbs impact; dampens vibration. Abrasion and corrosion resistant. Quiets the ride inside the vehicle.
