Brake pad technology has come a long way and I buy the ceramic pads the
local parts store carries. If they don't carry modern ceramics for what I'm
working on then I go for something name brand.

In reading the archives recently about pads, I recall reading a post
by a well known long timer regarding inexpensive pads. He said they
worked ok.

But *most* of the time, one gets what they pay for right?  :)

I'd "cheap out" on an interior light fixture or hubcap, but not my
brakes. But  that's just me. :)
