Subject: group 48 vs. group 41 battery
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

First of all, this is not a complaint or a slam or any such thing, because suggestions are just that and YMMV and MMMV, don't try this at home, etc. I bought the group 48 battery, mentioned a few days ago, because it is shorter and has higher specs, and was easier to slip into place. But in the interest of "full disclosure", try as I might, I couldn't get the hold-down bar to, well, hold it down. It would slip side to side and even tilt up. Okay, where is it going to go in that confined space? The problem is that the shoulder at the bottom of the battery is only about half as high as on the group 41 and the top edge has more of a slope, so the end of the bar wasn't really touching in it. My work-around was to drill (ouch!) two 1/8" holes either side of the notch in the center of the shoulder and insert 2 5/8" hex-head screws about half way, making sure the tops were level. Now the bar rests on those and all is tight. But, remember, don't try this at home, and just sign me, Stubborn in AZ
