Scott, I sell rebuilt ECUs for the Vanagon and have for many years. I even sold the performance 1.9l ECUs for a while. People get all weird sometimes when buying an ECU. They will insist on the exact same part number they have, and also the same manufacturer. They want a certain style of body on the ECU (plastic or metal). What it all boils down to is this. Any Vanagon 021 ECU will work in a digijet waterboxer Vanagon 83.5-85. Any Vanagon 022 ECU will work in a 2.1l Vanagon digifant. Believe me I have tried every combination you can imagine over the years and they all work fine. If the guy is asking for a 021 C he can use any 021 ECU. I have a pile of them sitting here. I sell rebuilt Vanagons ECUs for $250 plus $100 core charge. Just FYI.
