Subject: Re: valve spring compressor tool advice?

the c clamp type that youve pictured often hits on the head near the jaw and doesn't allow for a full range of motion. i have 2 or 3 of those, a craftsman, a KD and i'm not sure about the third. they all have interference. unless ive lent it out, I use a motorcycle style compressor that uses a hollow barrel to push on the spring retainer instead of a jaw. the cip1 style works fine if the head is stable on the platform and everyting lines up. i havent used that one in particular. i haven't found a head i couldnt work on using a large motorcycle style (hollow barrel) c clamp compressor, while there are a few that havent worked with the jaw style c clamp.
