All, I had a van hauled from San Francisco to Templeton CA [ about 200 miles ]. The bid was $300. But the company, Advance Logistics out of New York charged a fee and then allowed the truck driver to add 10% to his bill. All without prior notification. So the bid of $300 ended up being $355. The broker said they'd rebate money but what that means is you have to spend $100 or more in a month at a specified store then you get a gift certificate for $25. You can do that once a month for 10 months. But that wasn't disclosed first either. And I don't spend that kind of money at any one store in a month, except a grocery store and none of those were included. Don't know if other hauling brokers do the same but that's my experience with Advance Logistics. Pmail me if you have other questions. Mike in Marin |
