You got that right. I am blown away at some of the pictures Ben posts. I have been buying in the west and having the vans brought East after doing a few full restorations on East Coast vans. Some rust I can handle easily.......at some point you just need to cut your losses. Dollars and cents wise it is more cost effective to do this. Only if the van can be driven back East though. I pass on all the ones with engine or trans issues. I have 5 "keeper" Syncros now, 2 from Cali and three from Nevada. Don't worry, they are stored in a climate controlled shop. Radiant heat and geothermal cooling is awesome! Its like I'm on your coast, Thanks Paul. dylan ________________________________ From: Paul Guzyk <paullist08@GUZYK.COM> To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Sent: Friday, April 17, 2009 10:10:56 AM Subject: Re: Another one save. >I don't know if i posted this one >http://www.benplace.com/alain87.htm > Some owners must really LOVE their old vans.... In most cases it would be cheaper/easier/smarter to buy a rust free van from California and start over. Now that I live in California, I'm spoiled.  I never want to work on vehicles from the east...too much cancer, too much hassle.  Ben and you others in the East are brave, skilled, and patient men...I guess you use the long cold winters to stay inside and perfect your craft.
