Interesting! It reminds me of this guy with a little moustache who about 25 years before that had this idea of a standard people's car you could pre-pay for with savings stamps. Then there was something about misappropriation of funds for this alleged war effort and before you knew it they were producing these 'bucket cars'. Details are a little foggy, though, but I have a strange feeling it's all somehow connected to me sitting here, half asleep, typing near nonsense to a bunch of great folks on a VW Vanagon list.
