Meh. Why repeat something false? One might just as well say there are not Westys, because they were actually Westfalias. There _were_ Weekenders in 1985, that's a fact. Whether the one in question was sold as such doesn't matter, because the widespread understanding is that a Weekender is a Westy without a full kitchen. Everyone but you seems to know that.

From a copied VW spec sheet from 1985 (Form No. W64 255 6011): http://www.dualport.com/vanagon/data.html

Note the "Weekender package," described as "Includes: Folding rear bench seat with storage compartment, engine compartment cushion, center seat with folding backrest"

>A Weekender did not arrive until the Eurovan in the form of a pop-top >camper >with a folding rear seat for sleeping and no cabinetry whatsoever.

"In 1985, 1986, and 1987, there was a special Westfalia Wolfsburg Weekender offered. These models have the same pop-top as the full camper, but instead of the fridge/stove/sink assembly, they have a flip-up table and one rear-facing seat behind the driver, and a small all-electric, quick release cooler behind the passenger seat (that does not work very well)...A very similar model was offered again in 1990 and 1991 and was called the Westfalia Multivan " - http://www.gowesty.com/library_article.php?id=54

"Westfalias come with full galley kitchen and a "pop-top" camper roof, or as Weekenders or Multivans that have interiors that convert into beds, but don't have the fridge and stove. Not all Weekenders have the pop-top roof, and those that do are called Westfalia Weekenders." - http://www.canadiandriver.com/2006/03/06/feature-volkswagen-vanagon-and-westfalia-1980-1991.htm

"Westfalia campers came in two variants, the standard model and the 'Weekender,' which lacked the propane stove, sink, and Dometic refrigerator of the full 'camper' versions...Wolfsburg Edition "Weekender" models had two rear facing seats behind the front seats in place of a center bench seat and a table that popped up from out of the wall." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Type_2_(T3)
