Well, I think they started to put oil in the overflow and stopped. I drained it all out, cleaned and refilled. Ran fine for a couple of weeks. I don't think this is related, though. Strapped the Hall on tight with a zip strip and reinstalled last nite and started right up. Will drive a little later and see if it helped. Then get the right part for a permanent fix.
