Just for giggles I checked my 68-79 Van Bentley, since late Bays used the same calipers as early Vanagons, AFAIK. They show the caliper split and 2 small o-rings between the halves, but say not to split unless there is a leak there. They also give better directions for the piston/seal rebuild, including the helpful info left out of the Vanagon Bentley that you need to do the pistons one at a time. I was wrong about the late Bentley, it does show the caliper rebuild for all years starting on page 47.4.
