Danny, is your '84 Westy' also an Adventurewagon ? I see your posting on 3 separate groups.

can't reply to all 3 of them, but I would be very interested to hear what the final bill is, what they replaced EXACTLY .....what seals and fluids etc........... and if the results are good.

Halsy in Portland is my regular wholesale parts supplier ......... so I know them, though I don't use their service deptartment. I sent one AW owner, and air-cooled vanagon getting very poor fuel milage to them, and they did OK for her.

Scott www.turbovans.com ( I'm working on a super fine 85 Adventurwagon that will be for sale very soon. Putting in a very freshened up 2.1 engine etc. Going to be improving the interior layout massively too, btw ) .

So my mechanic (Halsey Automotive) just called me to tell me the news. So here it is. He said the torq converter seal is the one big leak happening and a few other transmission leaks as well. Like everyone has said to me : When the seals start to dry out and get hard they all start to leak. Thanks again to everyone for all your help and support. Halsey is going to have me running again by tomorrow. We are down to just one car and need the van back ASAP. And for all who read my first e-mail about the dog kennel flying off. NO the dogs were not in the kennel, they were sitting on my lap (Chihuahuas) We do get a few people looking at the kennel as we drive with it up there and NO we would never make a dog ride up there in the kennel.....LOL :-) Thanks Danny

Danny '84 Westy (Vanny)
