Britax used to sell something they called the "Britax steel casette" which was essentially a bolt in steel sunroof. It's nothing as big as the factory middle roof on a Vanagon. I would guess it is easier to put one of these folding tops or if you must have the factor top, cut at the posts and move the whole top.

If someone is interested, I have a German made Farmont composite pop-up sunroof from a German Vanagon (T3). It came from the front of a Doublecab but can be fitted to any Vanagon or West for that matter. These were installed by many European dealers on new VW's during the Vanagon production years.
