Can you pull the interior panel? I believe what has happened is that your power motor has stopped moving in the lock position. This is causing the "spring loaded" effect. You can try to get these motors working. Some times it is just that the pins in the door jamb aren't lining up just right. Pick up on the outside door handle a little and if this is the case you will hear the motor work and the door will either finish locking or unlock itself. If the motor is toast then you can remove it by removing the interior panel and just taking it out. I have new ones for $100 if you need one. Let me know if you need any more help.
