Subject: Re: Bummer! NLA! Really, no need to panic. There is a very easy and cheap alternative to the adjuster and and expensive and rather pathetic square stock headlight. This has been posted before but I think there may have been confusion as to what the alternative light/lens and bucket were. This post on the Samba details it all and I have done it myself easily and quickly. To Clarify - the common, and I mean common, to many cars and trucks in the 80's large rectangular headlight, think 86 ford F150, headlight and bucket and adjusters can be easily made to work on the Vanagon. The guy on the Samba used a Saab bucket and adjusters but they are still the standard common size large rectangular light! No expensive weird size, specific to Saab only thing at all. These lights are almost as common as the 7" round ones. That means cheap at the FLAPS, and lots of upgrade choices. I may have to start a service trading your stock square Vanagon Headlights sent to me for a returned set of these and a small fee. Take another look. |
