My family (brother and his clan) in Scottsdale, AZ have a variety of Subie-powered sand rails, turbo's mostly. There are a lot of shops in that area that make those so that would be a good place to start sniffing around. I'd also contact CCR in Denver, CO, who rebuild/make Subie engines for our vans and have been for years for aircraft use. They'd be a good place to call and talk to about the variety of simple yet powerful mods you can do to these engines. There probably isn't an engine that is more commonly used for dune buggies than Subaru's because they can be "powered-up" so easily, getting to 300-350 HP real quickly. My brother as a turbo'd 2.5 in his. 300+ HP. http://www.dunebuggy.com/ Bob Stevens Salt Lake City '87 Syancro Westy 2.2 |
