They say that when it first came out, the full synthetics did cause seals to fail.  But has been reformulated for quite some time now to cause no damage to seals.

I've never had a problem, and I have nothing but old engines.

Jst a question.....does a synthetic oil damage any of your seals on the
engine? Just bought a Castrol 10w40 today so thinking of using that
.....any suggestions or feeling on that?
