We had a drawn-out war over "weekender" semantics just a little over a week
ago. The conclusion was that "weekender" is a very common slang name for
this type of Westfalia. Just understand that it was never called a
Weekender by VW. The weekender option applied only to hard-top Vanagons and
did not include cabinets. Weekender option included rear-facing seats with
folding seat-backs and a different folding rear bed with a wooden kick
panel. If you look at this pic you will see the genuine Westfalia sticker
on the pop-top:

Also, there was a Westfalia badge at the left lower corner of the folding

The Wolfsburg Edition Westfalia campers were built in the same factory as
the full Westfalias. It's a genuine and unique Westy. I had an '85
Wolfsburg Westy for 4 years and loved it.
